Luke Mathews

Luke Mathews

Luke has most recently completed his coach accreditation, but has been involved in coaching young athletes through the Little Athletics schools program and also through St. Kevin’s Amateur Athletics Club. He has competed in the sport since he was seven years old, and has experience at local, state, national and international level. He has competed at the World Championships, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, where he won a bronze medal in the 800m. He was also involved in elite junior football (AFL), and has a knowledge for the fitness required in playing ball sports.

 

Achievements: 3 x Australian national champion over 800m, Olympic Representative over 800m and 1500m at Rio 2016, 2018 Commonwealth Games 800m bronze medallist.

 

Personal Bests: 800m 1:45.16, 1500m 3:35.57, Mile 3:54.53

Elizabeth Mathews

Elizabeth Mathews

Elizabeth (Liz) is a mother of three children and a qualified primary school teacher. Liz took up coaching in 2012 and is an Athletics Australia accredited coach, who works out of Williamstown and St. Kevin’s Athletics clubs. She has coached athletes of all ages and abilities, and has taken individuals to state and national junior championship medals; state, national and world master’s medals. Her most recent achievement was coaching her son – Luke Mathews – to his third Australian national 800m title and a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Gold Coast.

 

She currently coaches athletes of all capabilities from children as young as 10 to adults training for masters, fun runs and competitive club running.
